Air France has resolved its dispute with its pilots, although doubts remain as to the long-term stability of the new deal. The strike is reckoned to have cost at least Fr1.5 billion ($250 million) and left Air France struggling to put its fleet back into the air to meet football's World Cup commitments. The agreement calls for a seven year pay "freeze", with a clause allowing salary level discussions every two years. The two-tier salary structure, which left senior pilots on a higher salary than new employees, has been replaced with a training scheme for attracting student pilots on a five-year partial reimbursement basis.
