The Mexican navy has ordered two Eurocopter A565 Panther helicopters for delivery in 2005 and taken options on eight more. The Turbomeca Arriel 2C-powered aircraft will be operated from ships on coastguard, surveillance, search-and-rescue, drug eradication and troop transport missions. Under a contract signed last year, the European helicopter manufacturer is upgrading the Mexican navy's BO105 fleet.
