Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) and Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) have formed a joint venture company to sell the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) helicopter outside India. The company will initially market ALHs equipped with an IAI glass cockpit. HAL chairman Nalini Ranjan Mohanty revealed at Paris that HAL also plans to apply in the next few weeks for Indian certification of a new commercial variant of the ALH.

Mohanty signed the joint venture at Paris with IAI chief executive Moshe Keret. IAI was previously selected to supply avionics for ALHs ordered by the Indian army. The new company, which will be named later, will target potential customers in South America and Asia.
