Alberto Fernandez is the new chief executive (CEO) of Airbus Military Company, succeeding Alain Flourens. Fernandez will keep his duties as chairman and CEO of EADS Casa and head of the EADS Military Transport Aircraft Division. Flourens is transferring to a senior management role at Airbus in France. Former General Electric CEO Jack Welch has joined private equity investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice as a special partner to advise on strategic issues related to current and future investments and to global expansion. CD&R's aerospace interests include ownership of Fairchild Dornier. Vagn Sorensen has been appointed CEO for the Austrian Airline Group. He was SAS' executive vice president and deputy CEO. Sorensen succeeds departing CEOs Herbert Bammer and Mario Rehulka who will both retire on 15 October. Also new to the group's management board are: Thomas Kleibl, chief financial officer; Walter Bock, chief operations officer; and Josef Burger, chief commercial officer. The UK's Virtual Aviation College has named former British Regional Airlines CEO Terry Liddiard as a director. The college specialises in internet-based training.
