Finmeccanica subsidiary Galileo Avionica has appointed Allessandro Gustapane chief executive. Gustapane was formerly general manager of AgustaWestland Italy. Europrop International, the joint venture set up to produce the TP400-D6 engine for the AMCA400M, has named its executive team. Professor Guenter Kappler will be managing director; Rob Sellick of Rolls-Royce, technical director; Friedrich Lederer of MTU Aero Engines, commercial director; Pierre Drevet of Snecma Moteurs, operations director; and Miguel Angel Bariego of ITP, integrated logistics support director. In-flight e-mail and internet pioneer Tenzing Communications has appointed Alan McGinnis as chief executive and Steve Piller as chief operating officer. McGinnis, previously with Microsoft, replaces Edward Nicol, who is returning to Tenzing shareholder Cathay Pacific Airways to take up a "senior management position" in the new year. Piller joins from Tenzing shareholder Rockwell Collins, where he was vice-president Air Transport Systems. Ad Rutten has been appointed executive vice-president engineering & maintenance at KLM, effective 1 January. He will succeed Daan Meyer who is retiring. Rutten's current position as executive vice-president ground services will be filled by Frank de Reij , who is senior vice-president commercial at KLM Cargo. His successor will be Bram Gräber, who is currently vice-president Air Cargo. Air Marshal Sir Peter Norriss, recently retired from the UK Royal Air Force, has been appointed non-executive chairman of gas turbine specialist Microturbo. Dr Furio Lauri, founder and president of the Italian unmanned air vehicles, target and general aviation manufacturer Meteor, died on 2 October aged 83. Lauri flew fighters with distinction on both Axis and Allied sides in the Second World War, earning the Italian Gold Medal for Military Valour, before founding Meteor in 1947.
