Sören Belin has succeeded Jørgen Lindegaard as chief operating officer of Scandinavian Airlines. Lindegaard, who was acting as an interim chief operating officer, will continue as president and chief executive of the airline. Belin was formerly a partner with consultants Carta Booz Allen &Hamilton.

THY Turkish Airlines has appointed Abdurrahman Gundogdu as general manager, replacing Yusuf Bolayirli.

Smiths Aerospace, part of UK engineering combine Smiths Group, has named Bill Mawer managing director of its detection unit. Mawer was formerly director of marketing and strategy for Smiths Aerospace.

Defence communications specialist Titan has appointed Lawrence Delaney senior vice-president and chief executive of advanced systems development. He was formerly chief executive of Arete Associates.

Bmibaby has appointed John Robertson as head of operations. Robertson was formerly general manager operations for parent company bmi.
