A pilot from the Cameroon air force had a lucky escape when his Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jet trainer overshot the runway when landing in Yaounde on 15 March.
The two-seat aircraft came to a rest in the courtyard of a house after running down an embankment. Local reports indicate that the one crew member aboard escaped with slight injuries after it had come to a rest, with one civilian on the ground also having received minor scratches during the mishap.

The Cameroon air force had an active inventory of five Alpha Jet MS2s prior to the accident, which resulted in the aircraft sustaining significant damage to its nose section. Powered by Snecma Larzac engines, the fleet was delivered between 1983 and 1984, says Flightglobal’s MiliCAS database.
