ROCKWELL'S ELECTRO-Optical Center has signed a licence agreement with Honeywell, involving the transfer of Honeywell's uncooled microbolometer infra red (IR) technology for production by Rockwell. Rockwell, Inframetics, Honeywell and the New Jersey institute of Technology plan to demonstrate uncooled focal-plane arrays (FPAs) in Inframetics' commercial systems.
The two-dimensional uncooled FPAs will be used for sensitive, high-resolution, IR imaging. Military applications include night vision, target acquisition, IR search and track, missile seekers, sub-munitions and threat warning.
Meanwhile, Rockwell's miniature integrated global-positioning/inertial navigation tactical system is in production at its Autonetics Electronic Systems division.
