American Airlines will begin seasonal daily services to Los Cabos, Mexico, from Chicago O'Hare on 1 November, using Boeing MD-80s. The airline will also launch three daily Boeing 727 flights between Miami and Tampa on the same day, replacing services provided by regional partner American Eagle, which will reduce its schedule from 13 to eight round-trips a day. Belgian regional airline VLM will start a three-times daily scheduled service from Antwerp to Geneva in September, using Fokker 50s. Negotiations are being held with Sabena, which might be interested in a codeshare operation. Delta Connection carrier Trans States Airlines is to introduce Embraer RJ-145 regional jet services at Boston and New York. On 1 August, the airline will begin daily services from Boston to Cleveland and Raleigh-Durham and from New York Kennedy to Cleveland and Washington National. Ansett International has applied for capacity allocation equivalent to 840 seats, to allow it to codeshare with United Airlines and Air New Zealand on 21 direct services between Australia and the USA, and another 21 via New Zealand. Saudi Arabian Airlines is launching twice-weekly services to Kathmandu from Riyadh and Jeddah in September using Boeing 777s. LanChile has been cleared to serve Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands. Services will begin in October, with flights operating from Santiago via Buenos Aires. Pluna of Uruguay is also seeking authority to serve the islands. Continental Airlines has begun a daily service between New York Newark and Amsterdam, using McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30s. The US airline is also introducing direct services from New York Newark to Tel Aviv from August. Qantas is launching services to Norfolk Island from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, by codesharing with Brisbane-based carrier Norfolk Jet. Norfolk Jet operates a Boeing 737-400 leased from Air Nauru.
