Hawaiian Airlines and Continental Airlines have begun codesharing on flights between the continental USA and Hawaii. The agreement puts Continental's code on 150 daily jet flights operated by Hawaiian throughout the islands. Continental Airlines has begun daily services between New York Newark and Tel Aviv. A Houston-Sao Paulo service will begin in November. Air Canada has inaugurated its 50th new cross-border route since the 1995 Canada-US Open Skies agreement, with the start of daily services between Ottawa and Washington National. It plans additional flights in the near future. Ghana Airways aims to begin new services soon from its Accra base to Atlanta and Toronto, following a recent joint co-operation agreement with Ethiopian Airlines and South African Airways. Mexican regional airline AeroLitoral has begun services from Dallas/Fort Worth to Piedras Negras, with one round-trip flight daily originating from and continuing to Torreon. AeroLitoral is increasing its Dallas/Fort Worth-Chihuahua service to two flights daily. Continental Express began a daily regional jet service between Houston Intercontinental and Satillo, Mexico, on 1 August, using an Embraer RJ-145. LanChile resumed services to the Falkland Islands, via Argentina, on 7 August after the Chilean Government lifted a ban imposed when the UK arrested former Chilean leader Augusto Pinochet. The Saturday Santiago-Puerto Montt-Punta Arenas-Mount Pleasant outbound flight and Sunday return flight use a Boeing 737-200. American Eagle has begun regional jet service from New York LaGuardia to Cleveland using Embraer RJ-145s, marking the return to a route American abandoned 18 years ago. British Airways franchise partner Maersk Air UK is launching six-times weekly services from its Birmingham base to Stockholm Arlanda and Rome Fiumicino from November 1999.
