Northwest Airlines has begun jet services between Memphis and Des Moines, using an Avro RJ-85. It will begin codesharing with Japan Air System (JAS) on 1 July, on Northwest's flights to Tokyo from New York, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles, and JAS' connecting service between Osaka and Sapporo, Japan. Northwest will inaugurate non-stop services between Detroit and Charleston from 1 September, using McDonnell Douglas DC-9s and Avro RJ85s. Moscow-based Eastline has started scheduled cargo services on eight routes linking Russia and China, using Ilyushin Il-76TD freighters. The routes are Moscow Domodedovo to Xianyang, Urunqi, Shenyang, Haikou and Shijiazhuang; and from Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and Khabarovsk to Shenyang. From 16 July, Continental Airlines will begin codesharing on Northwest Airlines daily flights between Los Angeles and Osaka, Los Angles and Tokyo, and Seattle and Tokyo. Continental is to begin a new seasonal, Saturday-only service to Los Cabos, Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta from New York Newark, in December. TAP Air Portugal and Finnair have begun codesharing on flights between Lisbon and Helsinki via Zurich. TAP operates round trips between Lisbon and Zurich, while Finnair serves Zurich from Helsinki. JetBlue Airways will start daily, non-stop night flights each way from New York Kennedy to Ontario International Airport near Los Angeles in July and to Oakland in August. Star Alliance partners Air Canada and Lufthansa have begun flights between Toronto and Munich as a joint venture, with operating costs and revenues being shared. Air Canada has inaugurated a daily service between Denver and Vancouver, and a twice-daily non-stop service between Philadelphia and Montreal using a Bombardier CRJ. Regional affiliate Air Alliance has inaugurated daily services between Akron-Canton and Toronto.
