The first four transports to undergo upgrade for Russia's military airlift aviation force have been delivered for modernisation. Two Antonov An-124s will be modified to An-124-100 standard by the Voronezh aircraft plant and two Ilyushin Il-76MDs will receive Perm PS-90 engines in Ulyanovsk. The service requires three to four times its current fleet strength, according to its commander, Lt Gen Viktor Denisov.
