Following a spate of business aviation accidents in the USA, the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have scheduled a meeting this week with representatives from US general aviation trade bodies, including the National Business Aviation Association, to discuss safety improvements. Based on the FAA's three-year rolling average, business aviation fatality rates rose in 2004, while the airline fatality rate fell to an all-time low. The agency says it wants to "look in general at the business aviation safety cultures and safety systems in place and to examine the best practices in the industry where we might be able to share information from operators that have a really good safety system."
