The Paradise P-1 did not have far to travel to the US Sport Aviation show. The US distributor of this Brazilian aircraft is based in Sebring, Florida, where the show is held every year. It joins the long list of light sport aircraft models powered by the 100hp (75kW) Rotax 912 ULS, with a range of around 800km (430nm). The P-1 has a stall speed of 60km/h and supports the manufacturer's plans to promote the aircraft to flight schools. "It's wing design and big moving horizontal tail produce a very gentle, yet stable aircraft with good stall characteristics," the company says. "This, coupled with the ruggedness of its landing gear, dual control system, and a wide range of options, make it an excellent trainer." On the ground, taxiing is simplified with the pedal-steered nose gear and large hydraulic brake system. The P-1 is flown with a panel-mounted yoke inside a 1,070mm-(42in-) wide cabin that features leather upholstery as standard. Its 0.85m3 (30ft3) of storage will hold 20kg (70lbs). The standard price is $106,000.
