During recent operations in Afghanistan, a UK controller asked a B-52 to "recce" a stretch of road between two GPS waypoints. Uncle Roger has learned that a few minutes later the B-52 commander reported that an entire load of JDAMs (apart from two which had hung up) had been dropped on the road between points A and B as requested. It is understood that UK operating procedures now ban the use of the term "recce" for reconnaissance as it can apparently be mistaken for the word "wreck".
