Utah-based SkyWest Airlines is acquiring Houston-based ExpressJet for $133 million, net of shares it already owns, and plans to merge the Embraer ERJ operator with its Atlanta-based Atlantic Southeast Airlines subsidiary. SkyWest will seek a single US Federal Aviation Administration operating certificate for the two units. The tie-up is not expected to change schedules, destinations or fleets of either carrier. SkyWest and Atlantic Southeast are both major operators of Bombardier CRJs.
