Hong Kong International airport (HKIA) is reporting solid growth in both passenger and cargo throughput for May.
HKIA operator the Airport Authority says in a statement that 3.31 million passengers were handled last month, up 17.3% on the 2.82 million handled in May last year.
The amount of cargo handled increased 9.4%, to 269,000t from 245,894t.
Loaded
Unloaded cargo throughput increased 3.5% while loaded cargo throughput increased 13.4%.
Aircraft movements increased 10.4%, to 21,560 from 19,526.
"Europe and the mainland [China] markets continued to be the driving force in the growth of cargo volumes while long-haul passenger markets of the US, Europe and Australia showed healthy growth," says the Airport Authority.
