UK airport developer PlaneStation is in talks with Sony to use the Japanese electronics giant's advanced video surveillance technologies for security and passenger flow analysis. The company is considering using its flagship Kent International airport at Manston in south-east UK as a "showcase" for the systems. The revelation, buried in PlaneStation's financial results, highlights a year-long discreet development programme at Sony's strategic customer group to move its tracking technologies into transport security, among other fields. Adam Fry, European director of Sony's strategic customer groups, says trial work is under way at other airports, but the locations are confidential.
