Cathay Pacific and Air New Zealand have received approval to extend their network joint venture for services between Hong Kong and New Zealand until the end of October 2024.

The alliance between the two carriers commenced in 2013, which saw Air NZ withdrawing its Hong Kong-London flights, but has also led to Cathay starting seasonal services to Christchurch.

Together, the two carriers operate up to four services per day between the two countries, while Air NZ places its code on several onward services from Hong Kong operated by Cathay.

"Hong Kong is an important gateway for travel within North Asia, including into southern China and beyond. We have a strong partnership with Cathay Pacific and together we can stimulate tourism and trade, as well as providing customers with better connectivity and choice," says Air NZ chief strategy, networks and alliances officer Nick Judd.

Cirium schedules data shows that there are no other carriers that fly between Hong Kong and New Zealand.
