Airbus secured an order for six A320neo jets from an undisclosed customer in March, along with a deal for two A321s from VietJet.

The agreements were the only orders placed with the European airframer during the month.

Cancellation of six A320s meant Airbus's net orders for the first quarter reached 45 aircraft – its highest net figure for the quarter since 2015.

Long-haul aircraft made up eight of the 45 net orders. Widebody activity has been slow over the quarter with the A380 accounting for the only long-haul orders during the first three months.

Airbus delivered 56 aircraft during March, but deliveries for the quarter – a total of 121 – were down on last year's level of 136.

Single-aisle deliveries reached 95 aircraft compared with 107 for the first three months of 2017.
