Taiwan plans to deploy the first three batteries of modified Raytheon Patriot PAC-2 Plus air-defence missile systems at the end of 1999, says the country's defence minister Chiang Chung-ling. Taiwan also plans to take delivery of its first Stinger-based Boeing Avenger missile system the same year.
