Until such time as world economics turn on their head and we actually get spacious walk-around bar areas, as pictured in your feature "Comfort zone" (Flight International, 23-29 March), I wonder has any airline ever flown mixed seat pitch in economy and attempted to match passenger height to seat type?
The concept would be to seat taller individuals in seat rows at slightly greater pitch, thereby enhancing the average legroom/ height ratio (and so comfort) of all on board.
This would go beyond the practice of offering tall people the limited number of seats close to overwing exits and bulkheads already adopted by some carriers.
Having the misfortune (when I fly) to be 6ft 3in, I freely admit to having a strong vested interest in this issue.
