The UK Defence Procurement Agency (DPA) will select a contractor for its delayed Combined Aerial Target Systems requirement late this year and sign a contract with either the EADS/Serco Team Firecats consortium or Qinetiq in early 2006, say industry and military sources. The rival bidders submitted best and final offers for the private finance initiative deal last February, but a selection was delayed in June when the DPA reduced the number of air vehicles needed to deliver services from late 2006.
