Quebec-based ATS Aerospace will supply a multi-function air-traffic-control (ATC) trainer to the Transport Canada Training Institute (TCTI), which is to become the training arm of Nav Canada, the soon-to-be-formed privatised air-navigation-services corporation.
The combined two-dimensional tower/radar trainer, supporting 52 desktop workstations, will provide the transition from basic ATC classroom instruction to the full simulation provided by two three-dimensional, 360¡, airport-tower simulators supplied by ATS to the TCTI earlier this year.
With the pending privatisation of Canada's air-navigation services, and the formation of Nav Canada, the TCTI has acquired the systems to provide cost-effective training for Canadian requirements and for international clients, ATS says.
