Thailand's navy has ordered Matra-BAe Dynamics Sadral/ Mistral short-range air-defence missile systems to equip its largest warships. Matra-BAe was competing for the order, reportedly worth more than Fr200 million ($34.5 million), with Hughes, offering the Phalanx gun system, and Raytheon, proposing the Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missile. The company has also announced a second order from Indonesia for Simbad/Mistral air-defence systems.
