EADS Casa and Lockheed Martin/Alenia last month submitted bids to meet Portugal's requirement for 12 medium transport aircraft, with the companies offering their respective C-295 and C-27Jdesigns. A platform selection is expected after the conclusion of Portuguese elections set for early this year.
