Rolls-Royce has completed initial flight tests of its Trent 500, having logged 29 flights and 47 flying hours since tests on an Airbus A340-300 testbed started in June. The engine, being developed for the A340-500/600, is set for certification in December. The flight test and certification programme will begin early next year, involving three -600's and a -500.
