TRW Aeronautical Systems (Lucas Aerospace), on Stand H11 Hall 2b, has taken the wraps of its new AeroVantix aerospace portal at www.aerovantix.com. TRW has gone it alone on the project rather than pursuing a joint venture with another aerospace company.
The result cost "millions of dollars", says Arabella Bijlani, TRW Aeronautical Systems' vice-president business improvement.
"We couldn¹t find a portal that provided the full scope of functionality that we were seeking and decided to create our own functionality rich solution," she says.
"We worked with technology partner Izodia to get the system built as quickly as possible. In fact, the system went from drawing board to launch in just a few months.
"AeroVantix will simplify processes, improve TRW's customer responsiveness and should result in better customer satisfaction."
The portal provides a host of options to TRW's customers and suppliers including collaborative engineering design, product development and programme management tools. It also supports supply chain management, 24/7 order processing and a one-stop repair shop for spares.
The system is built to multi-lingual, multi-currency standards and will readily interface with other portals due to its industry-standard XML data standard.
