Two French carriers are intending to open services from Paris Orly to New York next year.

Leisure operator Corsair says it will commence flights on the route to the US gateway from 10 June.

But it is already facing competition from long-haul budget operator French Bee, part of Groupe Dubreuil, which is also to serve New York from June 2020.

Both carriers will open ticket sales on the route next week, they state.

Corsair has indicated that it will use Airbus A330neo twinjets on the route. The airline is planning to lease three A330-900s as part of a fleet modernisation.

French Bee exclusively uses Airbus A350-900s for its low-cost, long-haul operations. The carrier already includes San Francisco on its US network.

The transatlantic link between Paris and New York is a particularly busy route.

Air France and the all-premium operator La Compagnie fly the city pair from Paris Orly airport.

Paris-New York services are also conducted from the French capital's main hub at Charles de Gaulle, operated by carries including Air France, Norwegian, United Airlines and American Airlines among others.
