Ukrainian start-up Air Onix is making preparations to introduce passenger services from Simferopol in Crimea.

The locally-registered carrier, which was formed in 2007, is looking to begin operations in March 2012 using leased Boeing 737-300/400/500 variants.

On its website Air Onix says it will initially acquire three aircraft in a two-class configuration but intends to double the fleet over the first two years.

The business plan identifies Kiev, Lviv, Moscow and St Petersburg as destinations for scheduled services from Simferopol.

It also envisages providing charter flights to other cities in Ukraine and abroad with sufficient demand for direct air links to Crimea.
