General Electric has received US certification for a more powerful and durable variant of the CT7-8 turboshaft, with improved materials in the high-pressure turbine. CT7-8Es have been shipped to AgustaWestland for flight-testing in the EH101, and delivery of CT7-8As to Sikorsky for the S-92 begin this month. The CT7-8C, with 20% more power, is under development for the VH-92 and US101 contenders in the VXX US Presidential helicopter competition.
