Low-cost start-up VBird was grounded in mid-October after lessor ILFC repossessed its three Airbus A320s. The carrier, based at Düsseldorf Weeze airport (formerly Niederrhein) in Germany near the Dutch border, is in talks with potential "aviation industry" backers. The carrier was founded by the former chief executive of Dutch regional Air Exel in the winter of 2003.
