SELECTION The US Navy has been cleared by the Defense Acquisition Board to award the VXX presidential helicopter contract later this week after a nine-month delay. An announcement at the Pentagon is set for 28 January. Sikorsky's VH-92 is competing against the Lockheed Martin/AgustaWestland/Bell Helicopter US101 for the $1.6 billion award to launch a system development and demonstration phase. A follow-on production contract would be for 23 helicopters.
