The US Navy has again postponed selecting a contractor for the VXX presidential helicopter fleet, this time from mid-December to late January. The navy says only that it needs more time to judge the proposals. The delay means that contract award will occur nearly nine months late. The original schedule called for a decision in late March 2004, but was pushed back to allow the navy to focus on a series of risk-reduction efforts with both contractors for proposals based on the Sikorsky S-92 and the Lockheed Martin/AgustaWestland/Bell Helicopter US101.
