Rolls-Royce has received a contract from Air Canada for its "Total Care" package for power-by-the-hour maintenance of the Trent 772B engines on its eight Airbus A330-300s. R-R values the deal at $250 million over its 15-year life.
Southend, UK-based Air Livery has opened a second narrowbody painting hangar at its base. The firm is refinishing in excess of 200 aircraft a year.
SAS Commuter has signed a two-year contract with British European Aviation Services for C checks on the airline's 28 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400s. The first aircraft will arrive at British European's Exeter facilities in April, and the organisation says it is looking to support more Bombardier aircraft.
KLM has signed a one year extension of its Boeing 767 heavy maintenance contract with Alitalia's engineering and maintenance division. During 2002, KLM will send five 767-300ERs to Alitalia's facilities at Rome Fiumicino airport to undergo S4C checks, including stripping and painting, cabin rework and certain modifications requested by KLM.
Dragonair has contracted MTU Maintenance Hannover to maintain the International Aero Engines V2500s which power its Airbus A320s and A321s. The initial one-year contract is expected to lead to a long term fly-by-the-hour deal for engine maintenance by MTU Maintenance Zuhai. Meanwhile MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg has become an authorised General Electric CF34 service provider.
