Lease management provider C-S Aviation Services has entered into a five-year tripartite agreement with Air India and Aviation Sales Distribution to perform maintenance on its General Electric CF6-50C2 engines on an exclusive basis. The contract, worth $100 million, stipulates a five-year option to extend the agreement. Air India will perform heavy maintenance at its newly built facility in Mumbai, India. Lufthansa Technik has been contracted by Daimler-Chrysler Aviation to provide maintenance and support for its Airbus A319CJ. Air New Zealand (ANZ) has ordered Rolls-Royce's RB211-524G/H-T engine upgrade kit for three of its RB211-powered Boeing 747-400s. The retrofit work will be carried out over the next two-and-a-half years, with the modified engine incorporating R-R Trent technology, including the high pressure core from the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engine, to provide a combination of improved on-wing life, reduced maintenance costs and lower fuel consumption. The use of the Trent combustor helps reduce NOx emissions by 40%. Futura International Airways has signed an eight-year contract with FLS Aerospace for rotable support of ten Boeing 737-800s. The deal, which is worth k24 million, follows on from Futura's existing ten-year contract, which covers heavy maintenance and component repair for the 737 fleet.
