Fairchild Dornier and Lufthansa Technik Logistik are to establish spare parts distribution centres at Munich and Washington Dulles airports for Fairchild Dornier and Dornier aircraft. Operation of the Munich Airport-based distribution centre will begin by April. The Dulles centre is due to open at Lufthansa Technik Logistik's new facilities there in July. Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company (GAMECO), the maintenance base of China Southern Airlines, has just completed its first Airbus A320 "4C/5Y" maintenance check on a China Southern aircraft. It is the first Chinese overhaul company to perform such a check. Snecma Services and Czech national airline CSA have signed a memorandum of understanding to provide on-wing engine maintenance in Prague for third-party airlines in the region. AEM has signed a five-year contract with FLS Aerospace to provide repair and overhaul services for safety equipment. The contract will complement and support FLS Aerospace's own escape slide capability. The agreement covers escape slides and evacuation slide rafts on a range of aircraft. South African Airways Technical has secured a R150 million ($13.1million) two-year-contract to maintain the airframe of two Boeing 747s operated by Angolan airline TAAG. The agreement is in line with SAA Technical's strategy of pursuing opportunities in Africa and is underscored by the African Renaissance vision promoted by South African president Thabo Mbeki. Rockwell Collins Aviation Services has signed a Dispatch 100 per-flight-hour contract with Atlantic Southeast Airlines to provide maintenance, repair, spares ownership and logistics management for Collins avionics on the Delta Connection carrier's Bombardier CRJ fleet. Mexicana Airlines has extended United Services' existing contract to maintain the Pratt & Whitney PW2000 engines powering the Mexican carrier's nine Boeing 757s.
