Bombardier has been awarded a five-year contract by Northwest Airlines to carry out heavy maintenance on Northwest Airlink's fleet of CRJ200 and CRJ440 regional jets. Work will be carried out initially at Bombardier's West Virginia Air Center. The company says it may build a second maintenance centre elsewhere. EADS Aeroframe Services in Lake Charles, Louisiana, has signed a five-year contract to perform all-letter checks on JetBlue Airways' Airbus A320s. The EADS Sogerma Services subsidiary will also perform heavy maintenance of Air Jamaica's Airbus fleet under a long-term agreement. Swiss and SR Technics have signed a seven-year contract covering the technical support of the 52 Airbus A320 family aircraft, A330s and Boeing MD-11s in its fleet. SR Technics will be responsible for all technical work on airframes, components and engines. Mesa Air Group has signed a memorandum of understanding with Pratt & Whitney Canada covering maintenance of PT6s powering its 58 Raytheon Beech 1900Ds. Under the six-year deal, valued at more than $70 million, P&WC will buy Mesa's Desert Turbine Services engine maintenance unit as well as spare PT6s. KLM Engineering & Maintenance has secured a six-year, €200 million ($176 million) deal with Virgin Atlantic, through the extension of the UK airline's current maintenance contract for 12 Boeing 747-400s. Work includes airframe, engine and component maintenance, modification programmes, cabin alterations and repainting. Data Systems & Solutions is to provide engine health monitoring and performance trend analysis for ExpressJetAirlines' (formerly Continental Express) fleet of Rolls-Royce AE3007-powered Embraer ERJ-135/145 regional jets for up to 15 years. BAE Systems has secured a five-year extension, worth $11 million, to its Jet-Spares contract with AzzurraAir of Italy for the support of the airline's seven Avro regional jets.
