Middle River Aircraft Systems Asia of U-Tapao, Thailand, is to service thrust reversers on General Electric CF6-80C2 engines for Japan Airlines, in a deal worth up to $5 million a year. The same carrier has selected FLS Aerospace to provide line maintenance support for a Boeing 747-200F serving London Stansted Airport from 5 September. Dunlop Aerospace Services of Coventry, UK, is to maintain wheels and brakes for Ryanair's fleet of 21 Boeing 737-200s. The contract was placed by Israel Aircraft Industries. UK-based A J Walter Aviation has purchased all of the Boeing 757 assets from the receivers of now-defunct Canada 3000 Airlines, as well as some of its Airbus A310 and A320 stock, with a total value of $15 million. TIMCO Aviation Services and AIM Aviation Services jointly received US Federal Aviation Administration certification on 17 September for an enhanced security flightdeck door. The doors are applicable to the McDonnell Douglas DC-9 and Boeing MD-80 series aircraft and incorporate an electronic entry system and a mechanical decompression latch. Future certifications are expected for McDonnell Douglas DC-10, Boeing MD-11 and Boeing 717 aircraft. Greensboro, North Carolina- based TIMCO has also recently completed its first Airbus A300-600 Freighter C-check. Sabena Technics has signed a five-year maintenance contract for four Transaero 737-200/300s. Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering has been contracted by Zheijiang Airlines for heavy maintenance on two A320s in September and November. Collins Aviation Services (CAS), a division of Rockwell Collins, has received a five-year contract from Southwest Airlines to carry out maintenance on the company's avionics on its fleet of 737 Classics. CAS has also been contracted by the US Coast Guard to provide avionics maintenance repair and technical support on its Dassault Falcon business jets.
