Yakovlev hopes to revive the Yak-48 business jet project, with a critical design review early next year. The company says it has experience of business aircraft, having performed design work in the early 1990s for Israel Aircraft Industries on the super-mid-size Galaxy, now Gulfstream G200.
The Yak-48 was conceived as a mid-size business jet with the Yakovlev-designed Galaxy's fuselage and an all-new wing designed by TsAGI. The VIP- configured model would seat up to 12 passengers with a range of 6,000km (3,245nm) and 440-470kt (820-870km/h) cruise speed. Development costs are put at around $150 million.
