Air Seychelles is to launch a direct route to Paris in July, having previously served the French capital in partnership with shareholder Etihad Airways via Abu Dhabi.

Flights will be operated with an Airbus A330-200 thrice weekly, says the Mahe-based carrier. The current connecting service via the UAE is conducted twice a week.

No other airline operates direct flights on that route, Flightglobal's Innovata schedules show.

The nonstop service to Paris is part of a network rejig under which Air Seychelles will also increase frequencies to Madagascar's capital Antananarivo, Mauritius and Mumbai.

Etihad has a 40% shareholding in Air Seychelles. The island nation's government holds the remainder.
