Aircraft lessor and air freight company Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings says its Atlas Air unit will be flying cargo for Israel’s flag carrier El Al beginning this month.
The Purchase, New York-based parent of Atlas Air, Polar Air Cargo and Titan Aviation Holdings says on 7 January it will operate a Boeing 747-400 Freighter for several “significant routes,” primarily between the Belgian city of Liege and Tel Aviv.
According to Cirium fleets data, Atlas currently operates 40 Boeing 747Fs and 16 Boeing 767s.
“This new agreement will allow El Al to capitalise on the state-of-the-art service solutions provided by our aircraft,” says Atlas chief executive John Dietrich. “We welcome El Al as a new customer and look forward to supporting El Al as it continues to capture market opportunities and enhance its position as a leader in Israel’s cargo industry.”
