Royal Air Maroc has signed a lease agreement with lessor Avolon for six Boeing 737 Max 8s, with the first pair having already entered service.
The Dublin-headquartered lessor disclosed the deal on 14 October, stating that it is the first time it is leasing to the Moroccan carrier.

The remaining four jets will be delivered through the rest of the year into 2026. Oneworld member Royal Air Maroc operates 10 737 Max 8s currently, including the two Avolon-leased examples.
It also operates a fleet of older -800s, as well as 787s.
CEO and Chairman of Royal Air Maroc Abdelhamid Addou states: “The arrival of these 6…aircraft not only increases our operational capacity but also accelerates our transformation from a regional carrier into a global connector linking Africa with the rest of the world.”
Avolon president Paul Geaney adds: “Africa is expected to be one of the fastest growing regions for aviation over the next twenty years, with the network expansion enhancing business growth and social development.”
Boeing’s commercial outlook for the continent forecasts over 1,200 new aircraft to be added to over the next 20 years, against a per annum RPK growth of about 6% through 2044.
