Christoph Mueller has been promoted to head airline operations at TUI Travel, the German leisure company formed from the merger of TUI's tourism activities and First Choice Holidays. He will oversee seven carriers with a total of some 160 aircraft, including TUIfly and First Choice Airways.

Gaudenz Ambühl has been named chief operating officer at Swiss, succeeding Manfred Brennwald. Ambühl was formerly head of flight operations at Swiss.

Christian Tillmans, 43, has been named as the new managing director of Lufthansa CityLine, succeeding Dr Thomas Dräger, who is leaving the airline by mutual agreement to pursue new interests.

Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling has brought in former British Airways and Go chief executive Barbara Cassani and Jacques Bankir, who previously headed Air France carriers CityJet and Regional, as non-executive directors.

Germanwings has appointed Thomas Labonde, who had worked in Worldshop, another Lufthansa subsidiary, as its new marketing director.
