AgustaWestland unveiled a stretched derivative of the A109 light helicopter at the show, the Grand, designed to capture a share of the growing intermediate twin market. The eight-seat aircraft will be pitched against the Eurocopter EC145 and positioned in the Agusta product line between the A109 Power and Bell Agusta AB139.
The Grand is scheduled for certification as the A109S at the end of the year, leading to US approval shortly after, says Agusta. The Italian manufacturer says it has four aircraft on the production line.
