Airbus Helicopters has delivered the first two of 18 H135s to Spain’s Guardia Civil and Policia Nacional.

Part of a 36-unit order signed at the end of 2021 – which also includes training and support helicopters for the country’s armed forces – the H135 light-twins will be used to replace the operator’s fleet of elderly BO105s.

“We are proud that the new H135s, which will join the 31 helicopters that are already operated by the Ministry of the Interior, will help law enforcement agencies to continue protecting and saving lives throughout Spain,” says Bruno Even, chief executive of Airbus Helicopters.

Deliveries to the Spanish air force and navy, respectively receiving 11 and seven H135s, will begin next year. Spain’s army already operates 16 examples of the light-twin.
