Dr Assad Kotaite has been re-elected president of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the United Nations aviation-safety agency, his eighth consecutive three-year term. He has held the position since 1977. Before that, he was ICAO secretary-general for seven years.
