Lucas Aerospace Cargo Systems of the USA is to supply aluminium structural assemblies for Boeing 767 flap-track fairings, under a contract awarded by BP Chemicals. The deal valued at over $5 million, runs until 2001, and Lucas will begin just-in-time deliveries of the kits this year.
BP Chemicals will integrate the Lucas-manufactured components with the composite fairings, which it builds and ship complete 767 wing flap-track fairings to Boeing.
Meanwhile, Boeing has extended Lucas' existing contracts for 747 and 767 cargo handling systems, 737 leading edge rib assemblies and 747 cart lifts through to 2001. The projected value of this contract renewal "...could exceed $150 million", says Lucas.
