Hong Kong-based aircraft engineering and maintenance group HAECO has appointed former SR Technics head Frank Walschot as its new chief executive.

He will replace current interim CEO Summit Chan Ching from 1 December. Walschot joins the company with over 30 years of experience in aviation MRO, including stints at Pratt & Whitney, as well as HNA Technic.

Meanwhile, Chan will move to take up the role of group director for corporate development at HAECO. He will also remain as chairman of HAECO’s Xiamen arm, as well as HAECO’s other Chinese joint ventures.

Chan was named interim CEO on 19 August, after former HAECO chief of more than 10 years Augustus Tang left the company to join sister company Cathay Pacific as its new chief executive.

Both HAECO and Cathay are part of the Swire Group’s aviation units, which in recent weeks was the subject of a senior management shake-up.

On 16 August, ex-Cathay chief Rupert Hogg and former Cathay customer and commercial chief Paul Loo resigned, amid mounting scrutiny of the airline from China.
