ST Engineering’s aerospace division secured about S$1 billion ($734 million) worth of new and renewed MRO contracts for both commercial airframes and helicopters, in the quarter that ended 30 September.

Among the new deals it clinched was a 10-year agreement to work with Airbus Helicopters in the maintenance, inspection and on-demand repairs of the German Armed Forces’ NH90 fleet.

ST Engineering Aerospace says the deal will make up a “substantial part” of the fleet, but did not disclose how many. Cirium fleets data indicates that the German Armed Forces has 72 NH90s in operation, with a further seven on order.

Other contracts the MRO secured include a seven-year deal to provide component Maintenance-By-The-Hour support to a Boeing 737NG operator, as well as a five-year extension agreement with an Airbus A380 operator for airframe MRO.

The deals ST Engineering Aerospace clinched in the third-quarter represented a large proportion of the S$1.8 billion worth of deals the entire group secured for the period.
